Get to know the other jokes we make, and our friends who also make jokes.

Bronx Cheer

Picture
Conor and Craig of Bronx Cheer have been friends for a long time.  It was their HERO SHOW that got a lot of PT members excited about sketch comedy, years ago, and that show still runs the first tuesday of the month at our home the China Cloud and often features PT members.  They also produce other delicious projects like the Leo-nominated Mental Beast.  This is must see shit, people:

Hip.Bang!

Picture
Hip.Bang!'s Tom Hill and Devin Mackenzie’s unique brand of absurd scene work and playful theatricality has twisted audience expectations for years.  The duo performs regularly around Vancouver and in 2010 were featured in Rapid Fire Theatre’s Improvaganza festival.  In 2009, Hip.Bang! debuted their show “feed” at the Upfront Theatre in Bellingham, America, and later performed with Nicole Passmore as part of the Vancouver International Improv Festival.  Both fellows are long-time players and former presidents of UBCimprov, cast members of the Vancouver Theatresports League (Tom as part of Rookie League) and are co-founders of the Pump Trolley Comedy collective.

Ghost Jail Theatre

Picture
Ghost Jail Theatre is an improvised comedy show performed for a live audience. The show features writing and scenes created in the moment without notes or forethought. Each week we randomly select a theme from a piece of writing provided by our audience and perform our improvised take on that theme. Combining the worlds of theatre, improvisation and the written word, the audience will find Ghost Jail to be unique and completely accessible.

Man Hussy

Picture
Man Hussy makes sketch comedy that will force feces to bubble out of your palms.  Sorry, it's true.  They are a regular contributor to the Bronx Cheer sketch show, and Cam Macloed of MH hosts the HERO SHOW.  Their videos are terrific.

Rosa Parks Improv

Picture
Rosa Parks Improv is a collection of improvisers who explore and exploit the wonderful flexibility of free from long form as often and as rigourously as is humanly possible.  That they are all women is intentional but entirely beside the point.  Rosa Parks perform around town and host their own shows periodically.

The Sunday Service

Picture
The Sunday Service is a weekly improv show that will blow your mind.  Featuring five of the city's top improvisers, the service will remind you why laughter doesn't have to be planned.  The magic happens every Sunday at 9pm at the Hennessey Lounge on Broadway at Manitoba.  $5.

The Vancouver International Improv Festival

Picture
The Vancouver International Improv Festival is perennially one of the highlights of the Vancouver theatre calendar.  Featuring elite troupes and shows from all over the globe as well as local firebrands, VIIF takes place in October and in the past has featured Tegan Verheul, Warren Bates, Tom Hill, Devin Mackenzie, and Alex Hudson of PT.
